Mindfulness in Education

Two of the most important skills to develop for learning across the lifespan are the ability to pay attention and being able to manage our emotions. Learning how to be more mindful can improve both these skills.

Mindfulness and Yoga for Early Childhood

Thrive offers one off mindful movement and yoga incursions or a short series of incursions.

This story, about a 5 year old after just 10 fifteen minute sessions demonstrates just how powerful mindfulness can be in the early years.

There was a time when we took Lucy to a play centre, and while playing  in the jumping castle, Lucy and a boy bumped into each other. Lucy apologised to him but the boy refused to say sorry. She then got a bit upset because she found him to be rude. But then, she went sat in a quiet area, closed her eyes, and after 3 deep breaths, she stood up and ran back to us and said “I was doing mindfulness, and now I’m not upset anymore, only need 3 deep breaths“. I have to admit we were totally amazed!!
